Deputy Assistant Secretary (Acting)
David Robinson, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, was the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, with responsibility for Central America, Cuba, and the Caribbean. He served as Ambassador to Guyana from 2006-2008, as Deputy Chief of Mission in La Paz, Bolivia from 2003-2006, and as Deputy Chief of Mission in Asuncion, Paraguay from 2000-2003. In addition to several assignments in Washington, including most recently as Special Coordinator for Venezuela, he also has been posted in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Iceland.
Ambassador Robinson was born in Hartford, CT, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the National War College and also holds a master’s degree in theology.
