Christopher Midura, a Foreign Service Officer, is Deputy Director of Policy, Planning and Resources for the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. He has worked in this position since May 2008, and has been serving as Acting Director since August 2008.
Mr. Midura joined the Foreign Service in 1988. His overseas assignments include Pristina, Kosovo; Prague, Czech Republic; San Salvador, El Salvador; Lusaka, Zambia; Guatemala City, Guatemala; and La Paz, Bolivia.
In Washington, Mr. Midura has worked in the Department’s Bureau of Human Resources and in the Office of Congressional Liaison at the U.S. Information Agency. He was an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow and has served as a Senate Legislative Assistant for foreign, defense and veterans’ affairs.
Mr. Midura was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Georgetown University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS), and received his Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Sussex, England, in 1988.
