The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) today announced it received the Customer Satisfaction Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Interior’s Federal Consulting Group (FCG). FCG manages a program to assess and improve the satisfaction of nearly 250 agency websites government-wide. The award recognizes IIP for its customer-oriented U.S. Embassy and consulate websites serving U.S. and foreign citizens around the world.
IIP operates the web infrastructure for the Department’s 450 embassy and consulate websites that attract more than 340,000 visitors each day in 59 languages.
In announcing the award, Ronald M. Oberbillig, Chief Operating Officer of FCG, noted “the State Department has assumed a leadership position in government website management and innovation, made necessary investments, and utilized social media with increasing effectiveness to remain on the forward edge of communication technology. Taken together, you have done much to advance understanding of our country, our policies, and the importance of freedom.”
The award recognizes the importance of customer perspectives in providing service and information to the world and adherence to the President's policies on providing transparency, obtaining feedback, and engaging the public in a spirit of collaboration.
