Patricia N. Moller joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in April 1987, following 10 years as an investment banker and tax shelter specialist with Smith Barney. Her first assignment was to the consular section, in Munich. From 1989 – 1991, she served in Consulate General Madras, India, as the Management Officer. From 1991-1996 she worked in Washington at the Department, first as a Watch Officer, then as Staff Aide to the Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research, and finally for 2 years as Vietnam Desk Officer during bilateral negotiations to reestablish diplomatic relations between the two countries. Following Serbian-language training, she served in Embassy Belgrade as Management Officer.

After drawing down Belgrade’s staff three times, she, along with the Ambassador and other remaining Embassy officials, boarded a Navy jet the morning of April 24, 1999 to depart Yugoslavia. NATO bombing began that night.

From 2000-2002, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Yerevan, Armenia. Her posting to Georgia began in August, 2002, when she traveled to Tbilisi to begin 3 years as Deputy Chief of Mission to Ambassador Richard Miles.

Ms.  Moller has three times received the Department’s Superior Honor Award, and in 2000 was named the recipient of the Leamon R. Hunt Award for Administration Excellence.
