Natalie Jones was appointed Deputy Chief of Protocol of the United States in July 2011. In this role, Ms. Jones oversees the ceremonial activities as they relate to the visits of chiefs of state, heads of government and other international dignitaries who are in the United States to meet with the President, Vice President or Secretary of State. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Jones served as Assistant Chief of Protocol for Ceremonials since April 2009, where she was responsible for the planning and execution of over 125 official and ceremonial events per year hosted by The Secretary of State and other officials.
Before joining the Department of State, Ms. Jones served as the Women’s Leadership Forum Finance Director at the Democratic National Committee where she created and led the National Women’s Fundraising Initiative for then-Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
From January 2007 until June 2008, Ms. Jones was the Mid-Atlantic Finance Director for then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign. She has also served on the campaigns of Senator Evan Bayh and Senator John Kerry and as a fundraising consultant to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Women for Women International, Third Way and the Democratic Party of Virginia.
Ms. Jones is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
