Ian Klaus joined the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff in December, 2011. His portfolio includes International Organizations and Countering Violent Extremism. Formerly, he was Ernest May Fellow for history and strategic studies at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He received his BA from Washington University in St. Louis, his MA from Oxford University and his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
