Catherine E. Kay joined the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff in August 2012, following service as the U.S. Consul General in Thessaloniki, Greece. She focuses on Europe. Previous Foreign Service assignments include Pretoria, Ljubljana, Ottawa, Bucharest, the Executive Secretariat, European Affairs, and Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Ms. Kay received her BA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and her AM from the University of Chicago.
