Under Secretaries

The Under Secretaries report directly to the Secretary of State.  Each Under Secretary is responsible for a portfolio of issues, most of which are assigned to a bureau to oversee. Assistant Secretaries [link] head up the bureaus and report to the respective Under Secretary.
