Date: 04/27/2009 Description: Ms. Maryum Saifee State Dept PhotoMaryum Saifee is a Foreign Service Junior Officer who will be serving in Cairo in the Public Diplomacy section as an Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer.

Prior to joining the State Department, she worked and consulted for a variety of philanthropic and international development organizations including the Ford Foundation, United Nations Development Program, Human Rights Watch, Microfund for Women, and Acumen Fund. She also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jordan (2000-2002) and worked for a Seattle-based South Asian domestic violence organization as an AmeriCorps Volunteer.

Ms. Saifee holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
