Born in Houston and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Juli S. Kim studied international relations at Mount Holyoke College before pursuing an M.A. in environment and sustainable development at King’s College – University of London.
Ms. Kim joined the Foreign Service in October 2009 as part of the 142nd A-100 Class. She is serving at her first post as a political officer in Rabat, Morocco as the human rights officer. She will begin serving at Embassy Beijing in 2012.
Before joining the State Department, Ms. Kim was a program assistant for the Woodrow Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum and briefly worked with Conservation International’s China program. Prior to that, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service’s Cooperative Forestry Division in Washington D.C.
