Joon Yoo is a fire protection engineer with the Department of State in Arlington, Virginia. He is responsible for 50 U.S. Embassies' fire protection systems around the world. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Maryland University College since 2007. Mr. Yoo received a B.S. in fire protection engineering at the University of Maryland and master's degree in civil engineering at the University of Houston.
Mr. Yoo is a professional fire protection engineer, a certified fire protection specialist, and a certified fire inspector. Besides engineering field, Joon Yoo used to work as a certified high school physics teacher for four years in Maryland. Mr. Yoo is looking forward to combining teaching and fire protection engineering. Spring 2011 semester will be his seventh time to teach fire dynamics. He was an invited guest speaker at the 2009 NFPA Conference in Chicago. For fun, Mr. Yoo enjoys riding his motorcycle on weekends.
