Michael Young has been with the Department of State since 2004. He is a management officer, but has also done multiple consular assignments. His overseas assignments have included Seoul, Kabul, Ho Chi Minh City and he is currently serving in Islamabad. His next assignment will be in the Secretary’s Office of Counterterrorism.
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Michael had a diverse career having spent time at the World Bank, the San Francisco Mayor’s Office and two years in the China internet industry. Michael is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and has a master's of public policy from Harvard. Michael is an airborne-qualified infantry officer (CPT) in the Army Reserve and in his free time enjoys eating, cooking and calisthenics.
