Date: 05/01/2013 Description: Celebrating Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2013: Renee Lee - State Dept Image Renee Lee is a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) assigned to the Office of Strategic Planning in the Bureau of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Lee began her federal service at the U.S. Forest Service as a public affairs specialist in August 2011. As a PMF, Lee detailed for six months to the Department of State as a press officer for Afghanistan and Pakistan, and in September 2012, she permanently transferred as a PMF to the Department of State.

Prior to studying public diplomacy at the University of Southern California, Lee served in the U.S. Air Force as a public affairs officer in the Asia-Pacific region. Her Air Force career included assignments in South Korea and at the Headquarters, Pacific Air Forces in Hawaii. As an officer, Lee also deployed on various tours of duty in the EAP region executing PA activities.

As a military brat, Lee has many hometowns, including Seoul, South Korea and Honolulu, Hawaii. As a second-generation Korean-American, Lee is fluent in Korean; she also holds elementary proficiency in French and Japanese. Lee is married and resides in Arlington, Va.
