Sangmin “Simon” Lee is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, currently serving as the head of the Political-Military Affairs team within the Office of Afghanistan Affairs. Prior to this assignment, Simon served at several overseas posts, including Guangzhou,China; Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Manila, Philippines.
A political-coned officer, Simon has extensive experience in East Asian and security issues. He is a member of the 90th A-100 class. Prior to joining the State Department in 1999, Simon worked in the private sector as a management consultant. A native of Bucks County, PA, Simon has a B.A. in economics from the Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He speaks Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese.
