Children Witness Transformation in Afghanistan

These children, representing the future of Afghanistan, are witnessing the transformation of their country through innovative, U.S. funded projects such as alternative livelihood programs. Through these programs, the U.S. Government, the Government of Afghanistan and partners in the public and private sectors are providing the Afghan people with licit livelihood opportunities and contributing to the elimination of poppy production. In addition, these programs are encouraging people to return to their villages, rehabilitating the rural road and irrigation infrastructure, and improving access to local and regional markets.
