Deputy Chief of Mission Patricia Moller Visits Eastern GeorgiaTelavi, Georgia June 27, 2003 On June 26-28, 2003, a U.S. Embassy delegation led by Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Patricia Moller visited the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia. The delegation met with Democracy Commission grantee "Foundation for Life," a Georgian nongovernmental organization (NGO) providing economic educational programs for high school seniors from the Telavi region. The delegation visited the Telavi Aerodrome which will be the site of new facilities to house the fourth battalion of Georgian soldiers who will soon be trained by the U.S.-funded Georgia Train and Equip Program. The delegation ended its tour with a visit and wine-tasting event hosted by an alumnus of the U.S. Community Connections Program who has started a new winery in the Kakheti region, the "Wineman," which produces premium wines for export.
