Democracy Learned Through Mock Parliament
Sana'a, Yemen, June 2, 2005: Learning about democracy cannot begin too early if precepts of democracy are to become part of one's culture. Using Middle East Partnership Initiative [MEPI] small grants funds, the Public Affairs Section of the American Embassy funded courses to teach children how to conduct a mock parliament. Students convene and conduct a mock parliament using practices learned in a MEPI-sponsored course to invite and ensure participation from "representatives" of their class.
