U.S. Government Rehabilitates 23 Public Schools in South Lebanon

U.S. Government Assistance to Lebanon

Blat Intermediate School in the district of Marjayoun in South Lebanon was damaged as a result of the July 2006 War, increasing its misery. The U.S. Government is providing assistance to the people of Bint Jbeil, Marjeyoun, Hasbaya and seven villages in Tyre, through the provision of water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, infrastructure rehabilitation, sanitation installations, emergency relief supplies and cash for work activities.

Implemented by the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), the program initiated the reparation of 23 public schools in the most affected areas of South Lebanon, benefiting more than 4,000 students, and consequently helping engineers, craftsmen and workers who are returning to their villages find new job opportunities.

More than 4,000 students benefit from renovated schools, while construction workers find new job opportunities.
