Photo of Foreign Service Officer, Thomas Jung [State Department photo] Thomas Jung is currently responsible for monitoring South Korean economic developments and backs-up on North Korean economic issues in the Office of Korean Affairs at the State Department. He has been a Foreign Service Officer since 1997. Before joining the Office of Korean Affairs, Thomas was a student at the Foreign Service Institute's 36-week economics program. Previous assignments include 2 years as a consular officer at the American Consulate in Guangzhou, P.R.C., and 2 years as the political/economic/consular officer at the American Embassy in Mbabane, Swaziland. A graduate of Cornell University, Thomas worked as a hotel real estate analyst, a Peace Corps Volunteer, and a Peace Corps budget analyst before joining the Foreign Service. He grew up in Denver, Colorado, and has traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and Southern Africa. [more profiles]
