Sudanese Refugees in Chad

The State Department supports many programs for the 220,000 Sudanese refugees in Chad who fled the violent war in Darfur. The U.S. government provides a significant amount of the food aid for the Sudanese victims, and is the largest supporter of education and child protection programs for victims of the Darfur conflict who have fled to Chad. The U.S. government supports primary medical care for the refugees, especially maternal, child health care, and vaccines.
