Date: 02/10/2009 Description: Black History Month, 2009: Steven D. DuBose State Dept PhotoMr. DuBose is a Lead IT Specialist Systems Analyst in the Bureau of Information Resource Management’s Office of Systems and Integration.

He started working at State in June of 1974 and in July of that same year took a four-year military furlough to join the Air Force, before returning to State in 1978. He has worked in Personnel, Recruitment, African Affairs, and the old Mail and Pouch Room.

Of his career at State, Mr. DuBose says: “I guess you could say I grew up here at State because this is where I have spent most of my adult life. Being here so many years, I have seen my share of changes. This is the best job I have ever had. I guess you could say it’s pretty much the only job I have ever had. I have enjoyed all the different personalities I have met over the years and marveled at the hard work and dedication I have seen. I don’t know if all these young folks I see in the halls will stay here for thirty plus years. I have and I don’t regret any minute of it.”

Mr. DuBose has three sons. His spouse, Valerie, is also a State employee. They live in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
