Esther Mayberry is currently an office management specialist (OMS) who has over 25 years of administrative support experience from both the Federal Government and private industry. She joined the Department in 1998 and has worked for several bureaus that include African Affairs (AF), Consular Affairs (CA), Information Resource Management (IRM), Office of the Legal Adviser (L), Near Eastern Affairs (NEA) and Western Hemisphere Affairs (WHA). Ms. Mayberry has four years of undergraduate studies in the paralegal and law field at the University of Maryland, University College. She earned a paralegal certificate and has worked pro bono cases for lawyers, family, and friends.

Ms. Mayberry is a dependable and dedicated civil service secretary and office management specialist who has volunteered for several hard-to-fill short term TDY tours with her longest being a two-year hard-to-fill position in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Her other tours were with CA and WHA bureaus for 30 days each and a six-month tour in Baghdad, Iraq that ended November 2010. Ms. Mayberry has four adult children living in the Washington, D.C. area.

Ms. Mayberry says her work style is that of a “doer” and likes to share this quote by Theodore Roosevelt to explain:

“It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance and that in the end, progress is accomplished by the man who does things.”
