Oni Blair is a career Foreign Service officer with the U.S. Department of State. She currently serves as the Refugee Assistance Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, where she oversees approximately $120 million in humanitarian assistance to address the most urgent needs of displaced families.
Prior to Iraq, Oni served as a team leader in the Office of Pakistan Affairs and as staff assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs. She has also held assignments at the U.S. Embassies in Pakistan and Jordan, in addition to holding a Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship at the U.S. Embassy in Egypt.
Oni’s commitment to public service extends beyond her work in the U.S. Government. She is currently on the board of directors for Atlas Corps, a nonprofit organization that addresses critical social issues through fellowships for skilled professionals in the United States and abroad. From 2009 until 2011, Oni headed Foundry United Methodist Church's scholarship committee to award funds to students seeking higher education degrees.
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Oni earned a bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from Texas A&M University and a master's in public policy with a concentration in international security from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Oni is married to a fellow Foreign Service officer.
