David Kim is an appointee who started at the State Department in September 2011. He proudly serves in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Office of Professional and Cultural Exchanges which oversees the International Visitor Leadership Program and Citizen Exchanges Office.
Prior to joining the State Department, David worked as an associate at the White House Office of Presidential Personnel assisting with the vetting process for national security appointments throughout the Administration. Prior to that, he served as an intern in the Office of Presidential Correspondence Greetings Office assisting with Presidential greetings to citizens around the country.
As a transplant from Washington State, he is proud to have worked on the campaign to help expand domestic partnership benefits to same-sex couples and on voter outreach to minority groups of Asian heritage. David’s upbringing and faith plays a deep role in his commitment towards justice and equality and he actively participates in the Administration’s call to work on issues affecting the LGBT and AAPI community.
He received his BA from the University of Washington and speaks Korean, Japanese, and is actively in learning Brazilian Portuguese as his next language.
