Date: 06/01/2012 Description: 2012 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month: Cynthia Wang - State Dept Image Cynthia Wang joined the Department of State as a Foreign Service officer in September 2010. She is currently working as a vice consul in the American Citizen Services section of Embassy San Jose, Costa Rica.

Before joining the Foreign Service, Cynthia worked as an associate attorney at Meyers, Nave, Riback, Silver & Wilson. She also served as assistant city attorney to the City of South San Francisco and deputy city attorney to the City of Hayward. She received a B.A. from Smith College and a J.D. from the University of California at Davis.

Cynthia and her wife were married in San Francisco in 2008. Her wife works as the Embassy housing coordinator in San Jose. They proudly serve the U.S. Government abroad and hope to represent an example of the rich diversity of their country.
