I am a program officer with EducationUSA educational advising in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs with responsibility for educational advising activities in the NEA region. I joined the Department 9 months ago previously having worked on U.S. – Middle East policy at the Brookings Institution and then on educational outreach for a small international media nongovernmental organization (NGO.)
The best day of my life was when I married my husband here in DC in September of 2010. I care deeply about issues of equality, justice, and respect for all Americans, and particularly for LGBT Americans. In addition to the effort to guarantee marriage equality for all American citizens, I believe that ending workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation/gender identity or perceived sexual orientation/gender identity is among the most important civil rights issues that we face as a country.
I very much enjoy working at the Department of State and am grateful for the many wonderful colleagues I have met thus far. I thank them all for making State such a welcoming place to work.
