Jo-Ann Liner-Collins was born in Houma, Louisiana. She is a Foreign Service Office Management Specialist currently assigned to the American Institute in Taipei.
Ms. Liner-Collins joined the Foreign Service in 2000 as a second career, after 20 years in the private sector. She has served in Washington, the Bahamas, Haiti, Barbados and Iraq.
Ms. Liner-Collins is one fourth Native American and one fourth Pacific Islander. She is married and has two sons. Of her ancestry, she says: “My heritage is Native American and French on my maternal grandmother’s side and German and Polynesian on my paternal grandfather’s side. Also I have a little mixture of French and Scottish from somewhere in between. What does that make me? Truly American.”
