Martin Conterez started with the Department of State without prior federal experience. His former life was spent working many thankless hours as a restaurant manager in and around the DC area. Martin came into his position under the former Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) while pursuing his master's of science in management (MSM) with the University of Maryland.
Martin assumed his role as an HR Specialist by taking on the awards program for the Bureau of Consular Affairs. His work has since transitioned into many different roles. He also helped roll out and implement the usage of ePerformance for all Foreign Service, civil service, and senior executive service employees in my bureau. Martin has since graduated, not only with his MSM, but also an MBA. He has converted to a competitive position upon completion of the SCEP program and has since earned tenure.
Martin is looking to grow as an HR Specialist by taking training in classification and employee relations. Martin is also certified as a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
