Ambassador Frederick D. Barton (ECOSOC) discussed how state and local communities can work with the United Nations and the international community on the issues of sustainable development and climate change. Eric Maltzer from the Office of Global Change (OES/EGC) at the Department of State shared his experience working on state and local initiatives that address climate issues. Participants included mayors, principal staff to elected officials, tribal elected officials, and representatives from state and local associations.
