The Office of the Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs collaborated with U.S. private sector advisors from U.S. state and local governments at Rio+20. Patrick Hays, Mayor of North Little Rock, AR (President, ICLEI U.S.A.), Jean Quan, Mayor of Oakland, CA (chair, U.S. Conference of Mayors, International Committee), and Valerie Brown, Supervisor of Sonoma County, CA (former president, National Association of County Officials) assisted us in reinforcing the U.S. Government’s engagement with state and local leaders in the area of sustainable development. In addition, Salud, Carbajal, Supervisor, Santa Barbara, CA, Pegeen Hanraham, former Mayor, Gainesville, FL, and Nancy Sutley, Chair, White House Council on Environmental Quality, collaborated with the Office of the Special Representative on two outreach events held at the U.S. Center in Rio. During the U.S. Center panel discussions, these leaders shared best practices, discussed how they are confronting sustainability challenges and showcased what they are doing to lead the way on sustainable growth and the green economy in their communities.  Rio+C40»  The Road to Rio+20»  SRGIA Homepage»
