Celebrating Veterans Day 2011: Christian Williams

November 15, 2011

Date: 11/15/2011 Description: Celebrating Veteran's Day 2011: Christian Williams - State Dept Image

I was born in Germany where my father was serving as an Army officer. I grew up as an Army brat and lived all over the US and also in Korea. I had many exciting overseas trips including Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan. I graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School with honors. My high school was in the shadow of the US Air Force Academy. However, I selected USMA at West Point as my school of choice. After graduating from West Point, I was stationed in Germany as an Army officer with an artillery battalion. I enjoyed the work and the camaraderie in our unit.

After leaving the military, I had a great career in the pharmaceutical business; I was promoted to regional sales manager in Florida. I lived on the pristine white sands of Clearwater Beach for 10 years. This was tough duty, huh? Recently, I came to Arlington, VA to assist my ailing father. Sadly, he passed away and my mother and I miss him every day. My brother and father are West Point graduates. My sister was an Army ROTC graduate and worked for the Department of State in INL. My mother works as a contractor at Main State and now I proudly work as a contractor at one of State’s annexes. Service to our nation is still “all in the family”.
