David Jesser enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard out of high school in 1983, entering active duty in early 1984. During his tour of duty David first served on a buoy tender on the Delaware River before going to Radioman School in 1985. He finished his enlistment as a Radioman Second Class at Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Oregon.
David joined the State Department as a support communications officer a few months after his release from active duty in 1988. He has since served overseas tours as an IT specialist and IT manager in Hong Kong, Cairo, The Hague, Muscat, Pretoria, Brussels (NATO), and Riyadh. During his career David has always put an emphasis on educational goals, something he continues to promote to his staff, and while in the Foreign Service worked his way through an undergraduate program and later graduate school. Since his return to a domestic assignment in July, 2013 he now serves as the Director of the Enterprise Technology Division at FSI’s School of Applied Information Technology.
