On Wednesday, November 14, Dan Baer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State (DAS) in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, spoke to approximately 140 students at the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Policy Classroom. DAS Baer spoke to students on “U.S. Efforts to Promote Democracy and Human Rights.” Students in attendance came from a variety of universities, including Boston University, San Diego State University and the University of Georgia. Additionally, many of the attendees were international students from several countries, including Chile, Haiti and the United Kingdom. Cheryl Benton, a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Public Affairs, introduced the speaker for this event.
