Nongovernmental Organization Liaison Unit

The mission of the Nongovernmental Organization Liaison Unit (NGO Unit) is to create opportunities for dialogue between the State Department and representatives of nongovernmental organizations.  The Unit sponsors conferences, monthly and special issue briefings, and digital video conferences that allow NGOs an opportunity to exchange views with Department officials.

To support a dialogue with NGOs, the unit:

  • Coordinates leadership meetings with Department experts;
  • Distributes information on a wide range of foreign policy issues to NGOs; and
  • Provides Department speakers at national NGO conventions, regional conferences, and board meetings.
