Alejandro "Hoot" Baez
Rockport, Texas
MAY 2004 -- Alejandro “Hoot” Baez returned recently to Rockport, Texas as a Hometown Diplomat. During his visit, he met with Rockport Mayor Todd Peason, spoke at a local library to an enthusiastic group of students, and addressed a group of Rotarians. The Mayor expressed an interest in setting up a sister cities arrangement, and noted Rockport’s distinction as a Blue Wave Beach by the Clean Beaches Council in Washington. At the school, several students expressed interest in careers with the Department of State and the Foreign Service. Of the Rotary visit, one member commented, “I have never seen so many rush up to speak to one of our Rotary speakers…they loved him!”
