UNDER SECRETARY FOR DEMOCRACY AND GLOBAL AFFAIRS MARIA OTERO
:
Under Secretary Otero travels to Egypt, Jordan, Israel and the West Bank through April 21.  Her trip focuses on discussing water issues with interlocutors from the region.  The Middle East is one of the most water stressed regions in the world.  She will meet with government officials, non-governmental organizations, and youth leaders about technological and policy-based solutions towards overcoming challenges in this sector.  Under Secretary Otero will also be discussing other global affairs issues including democracy, human rights, trafficking in persons and environmental issues.
