DEPUTY SECRETARY JAMES STEINBERG

Deputy Secretary Steinberg is in Copenhagen, Denmark to attend the Arctic Council Deputy Ministerial Meeting and hold bilateral meetings through May 27.


DEPUTY SECRETARY JACK LEW

Deputy Secretary Lew is in Kano, Nigeria, to advance President Obama’s Global Health Initiative and strengthen ties with community leaders in northern Nigeria.

In Kano, Deputy Secretary Lew plans to meet with the Governor of Kano state, Ibrahim Shekauru, and the Emir of Kano, Al-Haji Dr. Ado Bayero, as well as community health organizations.  In these meetings, he is discussing polio eradication measures, women’s health issues, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs, and interfaith violence prevention.  Global AIDS Coordinator Ambassador Eric Goosby accompanies Deputy Secretary Lew throughout the day.

Deputy Secretary Lew departs Kano in the evening to attend the OECD Ministerial Conference in Paris, France through May 28.
