U.S. Court Decision on Holocaust-Era Payments

The United States welcomes today's decision by a U. S. District Court to allow the voluntary dismissal of Holocaust-related lawsuits against German banks. All parties to the litigation and the United States requested this dismissal last year to allow for the start of payments to a million survivors and other victims of the Nazi era through the German Foundation, "Remembrance, Responsibility and the Future."

We expect that the court will issue its written order within the next few days. We hope that this decision to dismiss the last pending class action suits will clear the way for prompt commencement of payments and a long-awaited measure of justice to deserving survivors.
