Background Briefing on Secretary Powell's Travel to Africa

On Thursday, May 17, 2001, a Scene Setter on Secretary Colin L. Powell’s trip to Africa will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Press Briefing Room 2209. This briefing will be "On Background" with a Senior State Department Official.

Secretary Powell will be traveling to Africa from May 22-28, visiting Mali, South Africa, Kenya and Uganda.

Press who wish to attend this briefing should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance (between C and D Streets, NW) and present a media-issued photo identification card or a letter from their employer on letter-head, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver’s license, passport).
