Mexico: Migration Talks

Question :  Describe the meeting between U.S. and Mexican officials reportedly scheduled for June 6 in San Antonio.  Who will represent the U.S.?

Answer:  There are two meetings scheduled for this week.  The June 6 meeting in San Antonio is specifically to discuss issues of safety on the border.  The U.S. delegation will be made up primarily of Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service and Border Patrol officials.  For more specific information, please contact the Department of Justice.

There will be a second meeting of U.S. and Mexican officials on Friday, June 8, in Washington.  Their agenda will be to continue the talks at the expert level that were begun on April 4.  Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Mary Ryan will lead the State Department representation at the June 8 meeting.  The Department of Justice will also have senior representation at the meeting.
