| Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC July 10, 2001 Special Briefing and Release of 2001 Trafficking in Persons ReportOn Thursday, July 12, at 10:00 a.m., Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will announce the release of the Department’s 2001 Trafficking in Persons Report to Congress. After the Secretary’s opening remarks, Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky will provide additional background on the report and, along with Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Rand Beers and Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Lorne Craner, be available to answer questions. This event will be on camera and on the record, in the State Department’s press Briefing Room (Room 2209). Press wishing to attend this briefing should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance (between C and D Streets, NW) and present a media-issued photo identification card or letter from their employer on letter-head, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport). Advance Copies of the Embargoed Report Embargoed copies of the report will be available on Thursday, July 12, at 9:00 a.m. in the State Department’s Press Office (Room 2109). The entire report is EMBARGOED until the conclusion of the press briefing, approximately 11:00 a.m., July 12. The report is available on a first-come, first-served basis, one copy per media organization, and must be collected in person from Room 2109. Copies will NOT be reserved, mailed, faxed, or delivered to a building entrance. Electronic Access to the Report via Internet The full text of the report will be available for downloading from the State Department web site at: http://www.state.gov after the press briefing on July 12. |
