United States Urges Voting in November 17 Kosovo Elections On Saturday, November 17, under international supervision, elections will be held in Kosovo for a Kosovo-wide Assembly with provisional powers. The Assembly will choose a provisional President and government. This historical election will mark a critical step in building democratic institutions of self-government that are a central objective of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
The United States urges all eligible voters to vote. Voting will be particularly vital for Kosovo's Serbs and other minorities. By exercising their right and responsibility to vote on November 17, the Serbs and other minorities will assure themselves an important and influential voice in shaping the future of Kosovo.
