| Taken Questions Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC December 18, 2001 Question Taken at december 18, 2001 Daily Press Briefing Operations at the U.S. Embassy in Burma
Question: Is the U.S. Embassy in Burma closing? Has it stopped issuing visas? Answer: The U.S. Embassy in Burma is not closing and is open to the public. The consular section of the Embassy continues to issue visas. Burmese citizens may still apply for non-immigrant visas through the Embassy. However, as with some other posts after the September 11 attacks, the U.S. Embassy in Burma moved visa processing from the Chancery for security reasons. |
