Special Press Briefing on Reconstruction and Humanitarian Efforts in AfghanistanAssistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Arthur E. Dewey and US Agency for International Development Deputy Administrator for Asia and the Near East James R. Kunder will brief the press on U.S. reconstruction assistance and humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan. This briefing will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the State Department’s Press Briefing Room (room 2209) and will be on-camera and on-the-record.
Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver’s license or passport). Attendees should use the State Department's 23rd Street entrance, between C and D Streets, NW.
