Lebanon: Hizballah Terrorist Attacks (Taken Question)

QUESTION:   Did the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon say publicly that some Hizballah violence, including the August 29 attack at Sheba'a Farms, "is not terrorism?"

Answer:   We have condemned Hizballah attacks across the United Nations demarcated line of withdrawal, also referred to as "The Blue Line," on every occasion, and have called for their immediate halt. U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Vincent Battle himself has consistently made these views known publicly and in his diplomatic discussions with Lebanese officials, including the President and Prime Minister. Any suggestions to the contrary are false and unfair.
