United States Condemns Attack Against Serb Pensioners in Kosovo

Yesterday, October 10, fifty-three elderly Kosovar Serbs under escort by the NATO-led Kosovo Force were attacked by approximately 1,000 Kosovar Albanians as they attempted to register for the UN-administered pension program in the Kosovo city of Pec/Peja. The United States strongly condemns this attempt to use violence and intimidation to oppose the necessary process of normalization in Kosovo.

The United States expects all Kosovar leaders to join with the international community in condemning this deplorable act and working toward reconciliation and reintegration for refugees and internally displaced persons of all ethnic groups.
