Egypt: U.S. Concerns Regarding Proposed Anti-Semitic Mini-Series (Taken Question)

Question: What reaction do you have to reports that an Egyptian TV station will soon air an anti-semitic mini-series called "Horseman Without a Horse" that reportedly has references to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion?

Answer: We understand that Dream TV, a private Egyptian television company, has produced a 40-part series called, "Horseman Without a Horse" that is scheduled to run during Ramadan on both Dream TV and government-owned Egypt Television (ETV).  We have not viewed the programs but we have some concerns about this series.

U.S. Ambassador to Cairo David Welch has met with senior Egyptian officials, including Egyptian Minister of Information Safwat Al Sherif, to raise our concerns. Egyptian officials say they have reviewed the mini-series to ensure the absence of anti-Semitic material.  We are following this issue closely, and will continue to remain engaged with Egyptian officials
