U.S. Department of State Honors Congressman Benjamin A. Gilman

Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage will deliver remarks at a reception honoring Congressman Benjamin Gilman (R-NY) on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 5:45 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the U.S. Department of State. The State Department is honoring Congressman Gilman for his significant contributions in the field of foreign policy and international exchange, as part of the nation’s third annual celebration of International Education Week, November 18-22, 2002. Congressman Benjamin Gilman and Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Patricia S. Harrison will also deliver remarks.

This event is open for press coverage.
Camera pre-set time is 4:45 p.m. in the C Street lobby. Final access for all press is 5:15 p.m. in the C Street lobby.

Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (drivers’ license or passport).
