Department of State Distributes $2 Million in Student Loan Repayments

The State Department has now completed funding its Student Loan Repayment Program, offering $2 million in repayments to the largest number of employees of any federal agency. Four hundred and seven State Department employees qualified to receive up to $4,700 each as part of the program which targeted Civil Service occupational series and Foreign Service employees at overseas posts where the Department has had difficulty in filling or keeping positions filled. Payments made on behalf of 29 employees were sufficient to allow those employees to pay off their remaining student loan debt.

For further information, please contact Neyla Arnas, Bureau of Human Resources, 202-647-2675.
