Members Selected for Industry Advisory PanelCharles E. Williams, Director/Chief Operating Officer of Overseas Buildings Operations, U.S. Department of State, today appointed nine members to the newly-established Industry Advisory Panel. These individuals will serve as representatives of their professional associations.
The individuals include Harold L. Adams, Chairman of RTKL Associates, representing The American Institute of Architects; Jeffrey L. Beard, President/CEO and a representative of the Design-Build Institute of America; Harvey M. Bernstein, Executive Director and a representative of the Building Futures Council/Civil Engineering Research Foundation; Ida B. Brooker, Manager for Construction and Environmental Contracts at The Boeing Company, representing Women Construction Owners and Executives, U.S.A.; Harvey L. Kornbluh, Chairman and CEO of Construction Consultants International Corporation, representing Associated Owners and Developers; David H. Ready, President of OR Partners, Inc., representing the National Association of Minority Contractors; Thomas J. Rittenhouse, Principal of Weidlinger Associates, Inc., representing the American Society of Civil Engineers; Derish M. Wolff, President and CEO of The Louis Berger Group, representing the American Council of Engineering Companies and the Building Futures Council; and Joel Zingeser, Director of Corporate Development at the Grunley Construction Corporation, Inc., representing The Associated General Contractors of America. The American Federation of Government Employees and the American Foreign Service Association were also invited to nominate representatives.
The first meeting of the Industry Advisory Panel is planned for February 21, 2002, and will be held in the Washington, D.C. area. The objective of the Panel is to ensure that the most efficient processes and optimal solutions from industry and academia are utilized to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities for U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide and to oversee the Department of State's real property assets. The Panel will advise with respect to areas such as research and development, design, construction, the environment, seismic issues, emergency operations, security, planning and development, and banking and finance and will follow the procedures prescribed by the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
